Do I need prior Spanish experience to join?
No. Camino Español is designed for a wide range of learners. Some members are just starting out, while others already know some Spanish but want to feel more comfortable speaking. The membership is flexible and open-ended, with suggested pathways based on different goals. If you’re not sure where to begin or would like guidance on how to approach your goals within the program, we’re here to help. You can choose your starting point, adjust as you go, and move at the pace that fits you.
How is this different from using an app?
Apps are great for vocabulary and short practice, but they don’t offer real conversation, guidance, or community. Camino Español gives you structured courses, live practice events, and a supportive space where you can ask questions and learn with others. You’re not learning alone here.
How much time do I need each week?
That’s up to you. Some members check in for ten or fifteen minutes a few times a week. Others spend more time watching lessons or attending events. Everything is flexible, and nothing is required. You decide how Spanish fits into your life.
Are the courses live or self-paced?
The Spanish Segment courses are self-paced, so you can start anytime and revisit lessons whenever you want. Live elements come in through monthly events like conversation hours, workshops, and Netflix and Chat.
What are the monthly events like?
Events are friendly, welcoming, and focused on real practice. You’ll have opportunities to speak, listen, and connect with others at your level. There’s no pressure to be perfect. These events are about using Spanish in a comfortable, supportive environment.
How do the private classes work?
Private classes are optional and available at a reduced rate of $35 per session. You can book one whenever you want extra one-on-one support. You choose the module you want help with and a time that fits your schedule. There are no packages and no minimums.
Is there a long-term commitment?
No. The membership is $65 per month, and you can pause or cancel anytime. We want you here because it’s helpful for you, not because you’re locked into anything.
How do I pause or cancel my membership?
You may request to pause your membership for three months, limited to one pause period per year. In pausing your membership, you will not lose your course progress or leaderboard status - all of your work will remain waiting for you after the pause period is over! To request a pause in your membership, email [email protected].
You may also cancel your membership at any time from your ILS Learning Portal dashboard. In canceling your membership, you will lose access immediately to all of the paid-for membership content, as well as your course progress and leaderboard status.
Can I ask questions if I get stuck?
Absolutely. You’ll have access to community Q&A spaces and instructors who are there to help. Asking questions is encouraged and part of the learning process.
Is this a good fit if I’m nervous about speaking?
Yes. Many members join because speaking feels intimidating. Camino Español is designed to help you ease into conversation gradually, with support and encouragement along the way. You can listen first, participate when you’re ready, and grow at your own pace.
